That’s why nothing makes us happier than giving you a healthy smile that fills you with confidence. ## Your smile matters Taking care of your teeth and your smile is just as big a part of taking care of yourself as exercising and eating well. When you have confidence in your smile, it can have a life-changing positive impact on your own self-confidence in so many situations – both at work and in your social life. And of course, loving your smile will also get you smiling more often, which can reduce stress and make you feel happier.  ![](https://www.ironwooddental.com/hubfs/Dental_Implants_Hero_Image.jpg) ## A new smile should function properly and make you feel great, but it should also look and feel like you. No two smiles are the same, and that’s why your smile design will be custom made just for you. We’ll chat with you about the type of smile you’d like to have before designing it specifically to suit your face shape, your facial features and your character. Then, you can even get a preview of what it could look like before you decide to go ahead. ![A close-up of a woman's beautiful smile created using veneers and Digital Smile Design.](https://www.ironwooddental.com/hubfs/IDC_Veneers_Featured_Img_02_V2.jpg) ## Smile design treatments at Ironwood At Ironwood, our smile design and enhancement services let you choose treatments that improve the areas of your smile that you most want to focus on. You can focus on the areas that you dislike or which may need to be repaired to restore the health of your teeth.  This can include altering the shape, alignment and colour of your teeth, as well as the appearance of your gums. To do this, we offer treatments such as teeth whitening, laser gum contouring and porcelain veneers. ## What smile design treatments can I have? #### Teeth whitening Teeth whitening is one of the fastest and most popular cosmetic dental procedures – it takes around an hour in the dental chair. To whiten your teeth, we protect your lips and gums and carefully apply a light-activated whitening gel to your teeth. Your teeth will typically be around 3 shades lighter after one treatment and sensitivity doesn’t last as long as it can do with home-whitening kits.  If you need a touch-up, this can be done as either another in-office whitening appointment or with a customized touch-up kit made just for you. #### Laser gum contouring If you don’t like your ‘gummy’ smile or uneven gum tissue, we can do laser gum contouring to help make your smile appear wider and more youthful. To do this, we use a soft-tissue diode laser to remove some of the extra gum tissue around your tooth, revealing more of your natural tooth underneath.  Healing begins immediately in the gums after gum contouring with a laser, so the healing process is quick and painless. #### No tooth removal veneers When you have veneers, being able to preserve your natural tooth structure provides the most benefit to you. This is because your natural tooth is stronger than any dental material that may be placed in your mouth.  That’s why Durathins no-tooth-removal veneers are a great option – no tooth enamel is removed. The ‘contact-lens’ thin porcelain is applied directly on top of your natural teeth and they are very strong once adhered. They can also be removed at any time in the future, and your natural smile would then be still intact underneath! ## What can porcelain veneers change about my smile? Porcelain veneers are a popular treatment which can improve the look and function of your smile so that your teeth stay healthy and look great. You can have one or several veneers fitted, depending on your needs.  As we design your veneers to suit your specific smile and facial structure, you can rest assured that your final result will be beautiful, natural, and made just for you. Porcelain veneers can be used to correct a variety of dental conditions: ###### To repair your teeth If your front teeth become chipped, cracked, or broken, or have large cavities, veneers can help to restore their health and structure and give you back a healthy smile. ###### To alter the shade of your teeth Sometimes, teeth can become extremely stained and discoloured – to the point where whitening products can no longer return them to a natural shade. For example, this can be the case with fluorosis or tetracycline staining. Veneers can give you back a natural-looking smile. ###### To close spaces between your teeth If you have small spaces between your teeth, having porcelain veneers placed can help to close them, leaving you with a more uniform smile. ###### To restore worn-down teeth Teeth clenching and grinding is a common problem that can lead to teeth becoming ground down until they are flat and ruin your bite. Veneers can help with these worn-down teeth. ###### To alter the shape of your teeth Veneers can help to give you a more even and uniform smile by changing the shape of irregularly shaped or uneven teeth. ## Will porcelain veneers work for me? ### How long do porcelain veneers last? When they are cared for well, veneers should last about 10 to 15 years. It’s important to remember that they have to be maintained and taken care of in the same way as natural teeth, which means keeping them protected. Just like natural teeth, veneers are susceptible to wear, tear and damage. ### How do I take care of my porcelain veneers? The best way to take care of your veneers is to treat them as carefully as you would your natural teeth. This means no chewing on pens or biting your nails! We also encourage you to keep up with regular dental cleanings and hygiene appointments to keep them polished and help maintain your overall dental health. If you play sports or grind your teeth, it’s important to wear mouth guards to keep your veneers and natural teeth safe. ![](https://www.ironwooddental.com/hubfs/Content_bglite-2.png) ## Book a consultation now Would you like to find out how our smile design and enhancement services could give you a smile you’ll love?
